Eco Friendly Candles

Each candle is unique because it is hand-made and held in recycled tin cans, jars, shells etc. They come infused with 100% pure essential oils and also come unscented.

Some of our candles aim to capture the magic of the Caithness area, using local resources e.g. decorated with shells, sea glass and pine cones; and are named after local features and locations. The most sustainable and environmentally friendly wax is used i.e. coconut and rapeseed. This luxurious wax carries the scent well, has a slow burn time, is smokeless and soot free. The cotton wicks are also soot free, burning clean and even.

In continuing the theme around nature, we are also adding eco friendly candles designed around the Solstice and Equinox for you to mark the changes and just relax, reflect and enjoy; or if you feel like it, party like the Pagans!

Essential Oil Roll On (10ml)

Essential oils have been used extensively since the time of the Ancient Egyptians.

These Roll Ons are intended for external use only on pulse points, to provide wellbeing by absorption through the skin and from their aroma.

A 5% dilution of blended pure essential oils has been used for adults’ occasional use - not for young children. Children’s blends (weaker dilution) can be made up on request.

Amber glass bottles are used rather than clear glass to avoid deterioration and protect the aromatic and therapeutic properties of the essential oils.

The carefully chosen essential oils are carried in Fractionated (liquid) Coconut Oil which has known benefits itself e.g. reducing inflammation and keeping the skin moisturised. As well as being a healthy alternative to synthetic skincare products that may be toxic, coconut oil has a lower environmental impact than most other oils. More often than not, growing coconuts requires no pesticides and they are harvested by hand.

The Flows.jpg

The Flows

Hailed as “one of the world’s last wild places”, The Flow Country stretches across Caithness and Sutherland and is the largest peatland in Europe. The candle is infused with Ylang Ylang and Patchouli essential oils so it may evoke balance, having an earthy as well as high and light aroma.

Aurora.jpg

Aurora

Caithness is a “hot spot” area to see the Aurora Borealis – the Northern Lights. The candle is infused with Lavender and Myrrh essential oils so it may evoke a sense of escape, calm and intrigue.

Ostara.jpg

Ostara

The month of March brings us the spring equinox. When ancient people were more connected to Mother Nature, they believed that the Germanic goddess Ostara brought about rebirth, renewal, and fertility to the land during the month of April. She was responsible for reawakening creativity and supporting the growth of new life.  No matter what you have been through. No matter how harsh, or how cold things have been, nothing lasts forever. Just like the Earth goes through seasons, so do you. (Forever Conscious). This candle is infused with basil. lime and bergamot; and is embedded with the petals of (last year’s) spring flowers.

Murkle.JPG

Murkle Bay

Murkle Bay lies just east of Thurso and is a magical, uplifting whilst peaceful place with beautiful views and lots of interesting features on the beach itself. The shells are used to decorate the candle and, if you are very lucky you may find a Groatie Buckie embedded in yours (Cowrie shell), said to bring good fortune and wellbeing. The candle is infused with Lemon and Rosemary essential oils so it wakes up the senses and has a refreshing aroma.

Yule

According to Forever Conscious, "The winter solstice celebrates the longest hours of darkness or the rebirth of the sun and is believed to hold a powerful energy for regeneration, renewal and self-reflection. In Pagan times the winter solstice was referred to as Yule and was a celebration of the Goddess (Moon) energy.
